Oppo! Which interior do you like best and why? Aesthetic and techinal wise that is. I know which one I like(early FTW) and why, but lets see what you think Oppo.
I like the early style personally, it looks sportier than the late-style; much more straightforward and I love having gauges all over my interior, which the later car lacks. The only flaw is radio placement.
Early:
"This is the dash layout for all early 944 models. It is basically the 924 dash. The Early dash's side air vents don't work too well; in fact they're pretty wimpy. The glovebox has much less volume, and you have to take your hand off the shifter to adjust the radio."
Late:
"In late '85, the 944 got a nicer dashboard. Cleaner layout, more graceful curves...much like the 928 of the day, similar to later 911's and almost identical to the 968."

If I was to DD one I'd go late model. But for a weekend car I'd go early.

Later. It would not look out of place in an American car built 20 years later.

I like the earlier one better, but I have a thing for square dashboards.

I like the later style much better. But I don't like the looks of the airbag steering wheel.

And why is that? :P

Same

Early, but with a black leather or suede/alcantara Nardi wheel, because that wheel is ugly as hell. Reasoning: the late interior looks like it could be out of... well, anything. The early interior has way more character and, like you, I love those gauges.

I love all the gauges. Because racecar. But the cheap plastic look and yellow doesn't make me think Porsche. Makes me think old 80/90s electronics. So I'd DD the interior that's more pleasant. But drive the older with the gauges for fun.

Because the earlier one looks kind of cool, all vintage-like
But the later one probably has better ergonomics and the air conditioning might be better too. So easier to live with if DD

They both look great, I can't choose as I see upsides and downsides to both of them.

I like the later one, and hate the steering wheels equally.

I like the vintage look on the old one, but the later looks more liveable as a daily driver.

Exactly

Why the wheels?
![]() 07/11/2014 at 20:41 |
|
Because I think they look ugly. This is the only 4 spoke wheel that I like:
![]() 07/11/2014 at 20:46 |

Eh...It looks fine, but that interior, not so much.
I mean what else would you expect from a 70s-80s Porsche? :P
![]() 07/11/2014 at 20:46 |
|
A 3 spoke wheel.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 20:48 |

Better? :)
![]() 07/11/2014 at 20:58 |

YES AWESOME
![]() 07/11/2014 at 21:05 |
|
still not sure
definitely one without an airbag though
![]() 07/11/2014 at 21:07 |

Guess what!
I'm gonna paint my brake calipers yellow.
And not because I want it to look like ze Porsche has PCCBs.
But just cause I think it looks cool. Yellow calipers go great with a black car.

OK no no no to the 3 spoke wheel on a 944. They look ok on the 911s of the era but I hate them on the 944. Mine has a later 4-spoker.
